“Take it one day at a time, and never lose faith,” advised Chloe Stogner
Chloe takes her own advice each day and does what she can to maintain her faith and do what she needs for each day. This has helped her make it through many trials and allows her to have her optimistic attitude. In fact, her beautiful personality has always shown brightly, especially when she was in school.
“Chloe is an amazing and inspiring young lady,” described former high school teacher Charise Blanchard. “No matter what was going on, she kept a positive attitude! Chloe is compassionate, hardworking, and very diligent. As a teacher, I am honored to have been a part of her journey!”
While in high school, Chloe was determined to reach all of her goals, and she succeeded. She worked hard in her classes and graduated with the honors she sought after, and her determination carried over into her graduation night.
“I was determined to walk across the stage,” expressed Chloe. “It was finally decided that they would push me across the field in my wheelchair, but when it came time to get my diploma, I was able to walk across the stage to get it.”
That moment was very important to Chloe, and her diligence and hard work helped her achieve it. Her journey hasn’t ended with graduating from high school though. She is trying to extend her education, but she is taking everything one day at a time to figure out what she would like to major in.
“I’m getting ready to go to college at MCC,” stated Chloe. “I don’t have an idea of what I’m majoring in yet, but I’m getting there.”
Although she may not entirely know what she is majoring in, she will eventually find the perfect major that will go alongside her passion in life.
“I’m passionate about trying to help people,” declared Chloe. “I try to just be a friend and listen to anyone when they need someone to talk to.”
Her passion for helping others has already presented itself in jobs that she has taken in the past. She is very selfless and thinks about how she is able to assist others whenever she can.
“I had a job last year staying with an elderly lady. She was my neighbor and needed help,” explained Chloe. “I went and stayed the night with her during the week, and my mom would come in the next day and stay with her during the day.”
With her natural love for others, Chloe enjoys spending as much time with her family and surrounding herself with all the people she cares about. In fact, she has some of her greatest memories with her family.
“I have some good memories spending time with my grandparents and my family. We’ve hunted and fished together,” said Chloe. “I spend a lot of time with my sister because she’s 15 years younger than me.”
Although she maintains her positive outlook and is able to offer a positive perspective to those around her, Chloe has had to overcome some major obstacles in her life. She was nervous and concerned about them each time, but through her faith she was able to come through them even stronger.
“The hardest thing I’ve overcome has been going through all of my operations while in school. I had to heal while staying on top of school work. I did it because I was determined to graduate. I have spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, so the operations were to help me be able to walk when I got older, which is where we’re at now. I had the operations when I was six, fifteen, and eighteen,” explained Chloe. “The overall goal was to help me be able to have better mobility, use my muscles more, have stronger muscles, and help my mind the way it needed to be helped. The surgery I had when I was 15 ended up being 28 surgeries in one surgery. I had surgery again my junior year, but it wasn’t as bad as that second surgery. I’m currently doing Botox injections as an alternative to surgery.”
Each day, Chloe never really knows what she will face. She only knows what she has been able to overcome and the great things that she looks forward to accomplishing. Despite undergoing challenges that not everyone has had to face, she is determined to maintain her optimistic attitude and do whatever it takes to succeed and reach all of her goals.
