Mayor Tony Chancelor called the meeting to order, gave the invocation and presented the following business:
(1) stated that he had spoken to Reggie Goldman about the security cameras for the town. Alderman Heath Kasselman made a motion to have Mr. Goldman to come to the January board meeting to obtain more information. Alderwoman Emily Chancelor seconded the motion, and all were in favor.
(2) inquired about the status of personal property that had been misplaced by former police personnel. Officer McNeece stated that he had spoken to District Attorney Kassie Coleman. Mrs. Coleman's office had reached out to the State Auditor's Office about the Town reimbursing the property owner for his personal property. Officer McNeece is to get a letter from District Attorney Kassie Coleman stating the Town of Enterprise can reimburse the property owner. Officer McNeece is to have the property owner sign a release of liability. Alderman Heath Kasselman made a motion to reimburse the property owner under the preceding conditions. Alderwoman Emily Chancelor seconded the motion and all approved.
(3) asked for a motion to hire Officer Bradley McNeece as Police Chief. Alderman Heath Kasselman made a motion to hire Officer McNeece as Police Chief. He will remain at his current rate of pay while getting certified and will be on a probation period of 90 days. After the probation period, pay rate will be reevaluated. Alderwoman Emily Chancelor seconded the motion. Alderman Darrel Phillips and Alderman Ben Moore voted against the motion. Mayor Tony Chancelor voted yes to break the tie.
(4) asked for a motion to send Officer Bradley McNeece to the New Police Chiefs Orientation that will be held in Ridgeland, MS, in January 2022. Alderman Heath Kasselman made a motion, seconded by Darrel Phillips and all were in favor.
Officer Bradley McNeece asked to rehire Austin Touchstone as a part time officer. Alderman Ben Moore made the motion, seconded by Alderman Darrel Phillips and all were in favor.
Clerk Ruth Combest presented information on purchasing a new flag for the town. Alderman Darrel Phillips recommended to table the purchase of the flag for two months.
The meeting was adjourned.
The town meetings are open to the public. They are held on the first Tuesday night of each month at 6 p.m. at the town hall.
