Breckenridge Farms will be hosting a Journey to the Cross event from Friday, March 31 – Sunday, April 2. Like they did with the live nativity around Christmas time, different churches in the area will portray different scenes from the life of Christ, and there will be a tent revival to join each night.
“We are planning The Journey to the Cross at Breckenridge Farms,” explained Kristen Phillips with Breckenridge. “We’re doing this because it’s our way to use the farm God has blessed us with to give back and glorify Him.”
The set-up for the event will be similar to how it was conducted at Christmastime with only a few changes.
“We’ll do kind of like we did at Christmas where it will be from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for the drive thru. Cars can come in and drive thru. We’re going to have one way in and one way out this time. We’ve built a road so that you can exit back onto the county road instead of having to turn around,” described Kristen. “We’ll have the tent set up at the exit so that if you want to stay, then you’re welcome to stay. We’ll start the service at 7:00 at night.”
About ten churches have already agreed to participate in the event, and they are preparing themselves to present their scenes for the event.
“We have 10 churches that have joined in to do a scene,” expressed Kristen. “It’ll depict the birth of Jesus all the way through the crucifixion, death, resurrection, and hopefully the ascension. We’ll start with the Nativity. We’ll go through Jesus walking on water. We’ve gotten all the way through fishers of men. We’ve got the Last Supper. We’ve got the washing of the feet of the disciples. Then, you have the trial, crucifixion, resurrection, and the ascension. Then, we’ll have the tent revival.”
Friday and Saturday night will have Bro. James Young preaching the service. Paul Davis from Northcrest will be doing the music Friday night, and Brian Williams will take care of the music Saturday night. On Sunday night, Bro. Jason Castle will be doing the music and sermon, so there will be a community wide church service Sunday night.
For those with children who would like to attend the tent revival but is afraid to stay with their child, there will be an area reserved to teach the children as well while parents/guardians attend the revival service.
“We had a children’s tent last time,” continued Kristen. “We’re looking for some of the churches to pitch in or have some volunteers to help do the children’s tent so that they can have a lesson or color sheets or something for the kids to do that don’t want to sit through revival.”
