With extreme cold temperatures in the forecast for next week, Clarke County Emergency Management plans to open a “Warming Station” beginning on Sunday, January 14, at 6:00 p.m.
The warming station, located at 642 South Archusa Ave. in Quitman, will be open during the week depending on the forecast.
“We do ask that you bring your essentials, like blankets, food, medicine, personal hygiene items, or anything of that nature,” stated EMA Director Toshia Evans. “We will provide restrooms and showers.”
No pets are allowed.
There will be police provisions monitoring throughout the hours.
Those who may need to use the warming station can contact EMA Director Toshia Evans at 601-274-2165 or Fire Coordinator Bradley McNeese at 601-274-0115.
