Roger and Sharla Leder recently purchased J&B Athletics and renamed it T&G Athletics after their daughters Taylor and Grace. While they do intend to continue doing what J&B has always been known for, they also plan to make other changes to meet the needs of those in the community.
“We’re keeping what’s here and just adding to it. We will still be the FedEx and UPS drop-off area, but we plan to stay open a little later,” expressed Sharla. “We want to carry anything that people may need. We will start to carry more soccer and volleyball supplies now since those sports are in season.”
They already have some experience with some of the stuff they will be doing at the store, and they have some great addition plans that will be great for those in the community.
“We started out at home doing the embroidery and vinyl heat press. Our oldest daughter wants to do a little boutique shop. When this building came up for sale, we thought it would be a good opportunity for her to get in with us. She can do some boutique stuff from in here, and we want to keep doing the sports side of it as well,” explained Roger. “We’ve looked at putting in a little business center where if someone needed to print something or save a PDF and email to someone, or fax, then we could do that as well.”
Since they do plan to continue the sports section of the store, they are trying to bring back some different things and do everything they can to be fully equipped for different teams and sports.
“We want to bring back the sports signups for the youth leagues,” informed Roger. “We’ve talked to some of the coaches to get an idea of what they would need. I’ve asked them to give us a list of items that they would expect us to have in stock. If one of the parents needed something, the coach can just tell them to go to T&G, and we would have whatever item they need for that sport.”
Any coach at one of the schools or little league teams is able to supply a list of required material to the store, and they will make sure to have the appropriate colors and supplies throughout the season.
While they have already made a smooth transition of ownership and continued doing business without closing down, they do intend to have a Grand Opening sometime at the beginning of the New Year.
