Friday night was a stormy night. Thunder crashed over the Sullivan-Windham Football Field at East Mississippi Community College as the Panthers football team, cheerleaders, and band arrived to face the Kemper County Wildcats.
As the weather cleared, the Panthers lined up for the Wildcats as the Wildcats kicked the ball into the Panthers’ territory. Freshman Running Back Akylin Dear caught the ball and ran it to the Panther 35 yard line. Sophomore Quarterback Jias Davis passed the ball to Dear, who ran the ball to the Wildcat 30 yard line. Things started to look good for the Panthers until the Wildcats gained control of the ball and ran it to the Panther 46 yard line, then the Panther 25 yard line, and then the Panther end zone. The Wildcats scored a touchdown with a good PAT. The score was Panthers 0 - Wildcats 7.
The Wildcats were up for the kickoff again. Wildcats kicked the ball to Senior Wide Receiver William Jackson, who ran the ball to the Panther 35 Yard line. Dear then ran the ball to the Wildcat 12 yard line. Freshman Quarterback Jaliel Cameron ran the ball to the Wildcat end zone and scored a touchdown for the Panthers. With a successful PAT from Davis, the score was Panthers 7- Wildcats 7.
The Panthers lined up for a kick off from Cameron, who kicked the ball from the Panthers’ 35 yard line to the Wildcats’ 32 yard line. The Wildcats then pushed the Panthers back to the Panthers’ 32 yard line. Dear, who was protected by a hoard of Panthers, pushed the ball to the Panthers’ 42 yard line at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter of the game, Dear pushed the ball to the Wildcats’ 33 yard line. Junior Quarterback J’lon McCoy pushed the ball to the Wildcats’ 20 yard line. Cameron ran the ball to the Wildcats’ 9 yard line. Dear finished the team's effort by scoring a touchdown for the Panthers. Cameron’s PAT was good. The score was Panthers 14 - Wildcats 7.
Cameron kicked the ball to the Wildcat 45 yard line, then pushed the ball to the Wildcats’ 29 yard line and then the 9 yard line. Suddenly, the Wildcats gained control of the ball and ran it all the way to the Panther endzone scoring a touchdown for the Wildcats. The Wildcats PAT failed, and the score was Panthers 14 - Wildcats 13.
Junior Downback Keshawn McDonald caught the Wildcats’ kick and ran the ball to the Panthers’ 46 yard line. Junior Running Back Markerius Harrison ran the ball to the Wildcats’ 43 yard line.
In the Third Quarter, Cameron kicked the ball to the Wildcats’ 40 yard line where a Wildcat caught the ball and ran it to the Panther endzone. The Two Point Conversion failed when Junior Line back Kade Hamrick jumped into the path of the Wildcat and tackled him. The score was Panthers 14 - Wildcats 19. Dear ran the ball to the Wildcats’ 34 yard line, then the 17 yard line, and finally to the Wildcats’ 3 yard line. Harrison scored a touchdown for the Panthers. Davis kicked a successful Point After Touchdown. The score was Panthers 21- Wildcats 19.
