I, Brenda McCormick, am asking the voters of Clarke County to re-elect me as your school board trustee for the Quitman School District-Place 1.
These are some things I ran on when elected in 2016 and will continue in 2022:
1-To try to do what I believed was in the best interest of the children and employees. We have good, hard-working employees. The board must make sure employees have the tools, training and support to do their jobs. This is something we have worked on and will continue.
2-I expected accountability at all levels of the Quitman School District. Every job is important. I, along with the superintendent and other board members, still have this expectation and belief. We will continue to work on this.
3-To speak up for what I believed was right and fair. I have done this and will continue.
4-To work with the superintendent and board to improve and maintain academic standards for the QSD. I, along with the superintendent and other board members, will continue to work on this. This is a priority for the district.
We have made improvements in several areas, but we still have much work to do. The pandemic has affected several things in the district. Some things had to be put on hold and we had to do some things differently. We have returned to the traditional school setting as much as we could. We are very glad to have our students and employees back. Safe, orderly schools are an ongoing priority.
We continue to try to be good stewards with all district funds. We currently have several projects planned which will be paid for using ESSER funds.
I am a graduate of QHS and my 4 children graduated from QHS. My position as a former teacher in the school district, and serving as a board member the past 5 years have given me valuable experience to continue serving the QSD as your School Board Trustee.
