The Quitman School District Place 1 Special Election will be held Nov. 2. This election will include the following precincts: North Quitman, South Quitman, Pachuta, Harmony Dist. 2, and Souinlovie voters that are in Place 1 school district.
Two people qualified to run for Quitman Place 1 – Brenda McCormick and Jonathan Cranford.
Only one person qualified for the Enterprise position - Incumbent Ernie Culbreth - so there will be no election for Enterprise.
The deadline to register to vote in the November election will be Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. The Circuit Clerk’s Office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. -12 p.m. to accommodate anyone who cannot make it during normal business hours.
Below are the guidelines to register to vote in the State of Mississippi:
A resident of Mississippi and the county, city, or town for 30 days prior to the election;
At least 18 years old at the date of the election;
Not declared mentally incompetent by a court; and,
Not convicted of a disenfranchising crime.
Absentee voting for the November 2nd Special Election began Monday – Friday September 20, 2021, and will last through October 30, 2021, anytime Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Circuit Clerk’s Office will also be open on Saturday, October 23, 2021, and Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. for anyone that cannot make it during normal business hours.
