Quitman School District recently made the unanimous decision to promote Dr. Minnie Dace to the position of Assistant Superintendent. After reviewing numerous applications, they determined that she was the most qualified and best candidate for the district.
“We had an interview process where we had nine good, quality applications. Our selection team went through them, and Dr. Dace was the best hands down. Our selection team was impressed and excited to have her, our school board is excited to have her, and I’m excited to have her. I’ve been involved in a lot of hires over the years, and I can’t remember one that I’ve been more proud of. I’ve worked with Dr. Dace before, and she’s a joy to work with. She’s knowledgeable and has 22 years of experience. She’s qualified, dependable, helpful, and has always been totally supportive,” expressed Interim Superintendent Dr. Lynn Weathersby. “She’s brought literally millions of dollars into this district. She’s done an excellent job of preparing funds through ESSER. Even before that, she was successful as a grant writer. The nurses are a good example of that. We have those nurses at a time when they’re really needed because Dr. Dace went out on a limb and has every one of those nurses’ positions paid for with a grant.”
While she has been given a new position, Dr. Dace does still plan to continue the roles that she has been doing.
“As the Assistant Superintendent, I will still assume the role of Federal Programs Director. I will still work directly with the nurses and the parent liaison. I will continue to do other duties as assigned by the superintendent,” explained Dr. Dace. “I was already doing various duties, and I’ll continue those as well. Federal Program Director will be over all the titles, and I’ll keep working with all the ESSER grants. I’ll probably be doing more direct things that are put on me.”
