Chad Valentine of Quitman got a surprise Monday afternoon while walking to his deer stand in the Mt. Rose area – a trespasser.
“I was walking to my deer stand around 3:15 this afternoon and heard the thicket moving,” said Chad. “I thought it was a deer until a blonde head poked up. I told him to put his hands up and held him at gunpoint while I called 911.”
Chad said the male was about a mile and ½ off the blacktop road in a thick cutover full of briars. The only thing the male subject had on was pajama pants, no shirt or shoes.
The Clarke County Sheriff’s Department responded, along with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, and charged the subject with trespassing.
Chad stated the subject had been seen on the hunting club’s deer cameras during the last three weeks, and the Sheriff’s Department has been investigating the matter.
“People need to be aware of any of your belongings that may be missing, especially this time of the year,” added Chad.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
As for Chad, he will have to resume his hunt another day.
