An employee at the Pachuta Post Office had a terrifying experience Friday morning when an individual came in and robbed the post office at gunpoint.
“What we know is a tall, slender male came in the post office waving a gun and jumped on the counter demanding money. He then took the money from the drawer and left on foot,” explained Sheriff Todd Kemp. “We believe he had a vehicle parked up the street where he made his getaway.”
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the building. U.S. Postal officials came from Jackson, and the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department investigated the scene.
They are still searching for the suspect, and a very large reward is being offered for any information that can lead to the arrest of the thief.
“The postal service has a reward up to $50,000 for information leading to an arrest,” said Sheriff Kemp.
If anyone has any information on this crime, please contact the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department at 601-776-5252.
