Any high school junior girls who would like to have the opportunity to earn thousands in scholarships should attend the Distinguished Young Women kickoff meeting on October 22 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Quitman.
Distinguished Young Women (formerly Junior Miss) is a scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments.
The competition has different categories with various weights: scholastics worth 25%, interview worth 25%, fitness worth 15%, talent worth 20%, and self-expression worth 15%.
The scholarships are worth competing for. Clarke County DYW 2023 earned $6,250 in scholarships, and Clarke County DYW 2024 earned $6,600 in scholarships. There is more available in scholarships depending on the college of choice.
