Smiles adorned the faces of residents at Diversicare in Quitman as they experienced a little extra cheer over the Christmas season.
Different groups in the community wanted to spread some Christmas joy and show the residents that they are loved and thought about.
Students at Enterprise Elementary School collected donations and made gift bags to hand out to each resident, and students at Quitman Lower Elementary School made Christmas cards for everyone there.
Some kids from both Enterprise and Quitman School Districts came out to hand out the gift bags and cards and just spend a moment of time with the residents to wish them a very Merry Christmas.
The schools weren’t the only ones sending a little extra cheer to the residents. There are currently 10 veterans residing at Diversicare, and VFW Post 4982 made a special visit to each one. Ann Hollingsworth, Eugene Holmes, and Sylvester Gates acted as Santa’s helpers and delivered Christmas packages to them.
The joy and appreciation for the gifts and visits shined brightly on each resident’s face, making all the efforts a success for the Christmas season.
