At approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 18, a possible drowning at Clarkco State Park was called in.
While in route to the scene, mutual aid assistance was notified about the situation. Among the responders who came out to the scene were the LEMA dive team, Clarke County Sheriff’s Department, Paratech, Game and Fish Department, members of the Clarke County fire service, and Meridian Fire Department.
Approximately 10 minutes after the initial call was made, a boat was in the water in search of the victim. Within an hour, the body of an 18 year old black male was recovered.
“I send my condolences to the family,” declared Clarke County Fire Coordinator Bradley McNeese. “I would also like to thank the multiple agencies who responded so quickly to bring an end to this tragedy.”
