The Clarke County Tribune was invited to share information with the Enterprise fifth grade classes May 19 on the workings of newspapers and journalism careers. Publisher Jennifer Bozeman was honored to share her experience and why/how she got started in the newspaper industry 29 years ago.
“All year long we had been discussing life goals, and I tried to get them to have a goal-oriented mindset,” stated teacher Bethany Garrett. “We discussed how one of their first goals for their future is to graduate high school in 2029. Then, I told them something our superintendent, Coach Perkins, had shared with us at the beginning of the year which was after graduation our goal as a district is for our students to become employed, enrolled, or enlisted. So that’s the backstory of how our College and Career Unit came to be in Reading. I wanted them to see that it’s never too early to start thinking about their future and start making plans for it! Students took a career interest inventory that showed them different categories for potential career fields. One of which was communication arts, so I wanted them to have the opportunity to see what someone in that field truly does to make it more tangible for them.”
Bozeman would like to thank ESD for the opportunity to share her career that she loves.
