“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified” (Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV).
Donielle McCraw, who is known by her nickname Bitty, has recently published a book testifying of what the Lord has accomplished in her life.
“I’m just a normal, everyday mom and wife that went through a time of change for myself. I’ve always served the Lord, but I had gotten away for a while and so did my husband. God truly worked a miracle for something that seemed impossible. He worked a miracle for our marriage and for our lives individually and changed us and made us all new people. I can’t praise Him enough for the toughest time in my marriage and the toughest time in my life. The Bible says for us to consider it pure joy when we go through times of trial and tribulation. That’s where I’m at now. It was hard at the time, but it changed both of us and changed our marriage and made us stronger in the Lord together. That’s basically what the book is about,” explained Bitty. “If this book will change one person or one marriage, then I’m willing to have gone through that and put out our lives out there for everyone to hear. It’s my life testimony from the time I was 15 years old. I go quickly through the chapters from that time, but the main thing is about marriage and what the Lord did for our marriage and our lives individually.”
Although Bitty is listed as the author of the book, she declares that she was simply the vessel used to write the story and that God is the true author of the book. She prefers that all of the credit and focus for the content be focused towards God.
“The best part is that He told me every word to put in this book. I cannot take any credit for it at all. It was conversation between myself and God constantly. He told me every word that He wanted me to write. God wrote this story. I was just His hands. I was just the person that was willing to submit to Him and write what He said to write,” proclaimed Bitty. “I don’t want any credit for it. I don’t want to be in the spotlight as the author. I want what God has done for our family to be in the spotlight. I want God to be in the spotlight because He’s the one that wrote our story.”
The book, Bitty From Ashes by Donielle McCraw, is more than a simple novel to read through. It is interactive, and Bitty highly recommends completing all of the journaling and questions that appear throughout each chapter as they appear in order to receive the full impact of the book.
“When you read the book, it’s a workbook and journal as well. It has scriptures for you to look up and YouTube videos to watch along with,” explained Bitty. “My main thing is asking you to do all of it because it changes your life. I can say that because this is what changed my life. I’ve heard testimony after testimony of people who have done the whole thing and said that it has changed their lives. That is the way God intended for it to be. It’s a very unique book, and I ask that it all be done. You have to search yourself very deeply, probably in some areas you wouldn’t want to, to get the full effect from the book. I truly believe that is where our growth comes from: when we search ourselves and let God turn lights on in us that we never knew.”
She was also able to see God’s hand in the process of just getting the book published.
“I used Christian Faith Publishing. That was another God thing. I’ve never heard of a publisher and didn’t even know where to begin, but God worked all that out. It was accepted on the first try, which is unheard of, so you know that’s God,” declared Bitty. “January 7 is when they let me know that it was ready to be published. It was released to the public in February.”
