Everything Under the Son, located at 235 North Archusa Avenue in Quitman, held its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, June 29.
This great business, owned by Herby Romulus, Myriam Romulus, and Heather Paluck, was started as a way to assist the community.
“About three months ago, this was something that I had in mind. I didn’t know that Heather and another friend of ours, John, also had it in mind,” explained Herby. “We started to talk about it to see how we could reach the community. We wanted to not only be able to help with affordable priced products but to also reach people with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s how it started. We talked about it on a Sunday, and then on Monday they started to look for a place.”
While they are selling various things for extremely reasonable prices, they are not there to make a profit.
“This is a nonprofit business,” continued Herby. “Everything here has been donated. Even though we are selling some stuff, we are also helping.”
They are trying to use the money made to help in the community, whether it is to offer a small job, help with needs, or anything else they see that can use it for to be a blessing and witness in the community.
“We give jobs if somebody comes in and wants to help, so we use the money to have a way to pay them,” informed Heather. “If somebody has an overdue bill or can’t pay their rent or even needs groceries, we can try to help a little with that. It could be going as far as helping people get in touch with a mental health professional or helping find beds for people in recovery. There have been a couple times where people have reached out to us, and we’ve gotten to help. If people need items, we can sometimes donate items. That’s where our heart is. We’re digging out of the initial costs of getting everything going, but our aim is to just help the community, whatever that looks like.”
Not everything in the store costs something.
“We also have a few free items for people who may need them,” added Herby. “We don’t sell food, but we have a section where if you need something like some food, sanitizer, masks, and things like that. All of those things are free. We have Bibles that are free if anyone comes in and needs a Bible. We’re not here to get rich but to get the people the best wealth they can get, which is Jesus.”
As a nonprofit organization, they are based strictly on donations. They are willing to accept donated items to be sold, and they benefit from monetary donations as well to assist with meeting the expenses to keep the store up and running.
They have various methods to donate for those who would like to make any monetary donations. One way is to send a donation through CashApp to $everythingunderSon.
Come out and help support this great ministry business!
