These students were selected as Champions of Character and were recognized at our sixth annual FCA Jackie Slay Breakfast of Champions. Each year, we ask either the FCA sponsor or a coach at each of our 15 high schools to select two students to represent their school at the Breakfast of Champions. In order to be selected as a Champion of Character, the student must demonstrate FCA’s values (integrity, serving, teamwork, and excellence) on and off the field.
The Breakfast of Champions is an event held each year by the Greater Meridian Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Good Friday morning. At the breakfast, we highlight the ministry of FCA that takes place on our school campuses in our area, recognize our Champions of Character, and recognize our Mac Barnes Coach of the Year and our male and female Athletes of the Year. Our award show is always followed up by a keynote address. This year MLB Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz spoke at the event.
