“Always stay true to your faith, and never think low of yourself. Always think high of yourself,” advised Mallory Duell. “Know that you can do stuff. You just have to set your mind to it and go for it.”
Mallory Duell has a determination to succeed and has learned over the years not to doubt her abilities. She has figured out what she enjoys doing and loves her full-time job where she is able to work remotely.
“I went to Delta State for year, and then I came back home and went to MCC. I went through the x-ray program, and I didn’t finish it. I was really close to finishing, but that didn’t work out for me. I figured out that that side of the medical field was not for me,” explained Mallory. “I work full time at Vital Care Infusion Services in Marion. We just went remote, so that’s really fun working from home. I work with patient collections and patient assistant programs after the insurance pays. I’m the lead in that department. It’s pretty cool.”
Her full-time job isn’t the only thing she does. Recently, she has taken one of her hobbies and turned it into a business on the side as well.
“I have a few hobbies. I paint and draw,” informed Mallory. “I did start up a little side business for my paintings and drawings: Paige and Leigh Co. I have wood designs, digital designs, sublimation designs, t-shirts, etc. It’s pretty much anything anyone is looking for! I’ve been painting my whole life, but I just started that up a few months ago. I just got a website up about a month ago. That’s up and rolling, and I’ve got an Etsy shop. It’s really fun for me, and in my free time I like to do that.”
The website she arranged for Paige and Leigh Co. is paigeandleighco.net. Her Etsy shop is under the name paigeandleighco, and she can be found on Facebook at Paige and Leigh Co.
While she is already busy with her jobs and spending time with her family, Mallory does have plans to learn another trade in the future so she can also do something else she loves on the side as well.
“I am wanting to go back and do cosmetology,” expressed Mallory. “Every time I go to get my hair done, I think I really want to do this. I think it would be a really big help for people getting their hair done because it’s therapy for me when I go and get to talk the whole time and everything. I am going to end up going back into that. My husband, Colby, works in Corinth, and we are planning to move to be closer up there and have time to spend together because his schedule is crazy. Once we move up there, I was planning to go back for cosmetology and do all that up there.”
When she was growing up, one of the things she enjoyed doing was cheering. She made some great memories over her cheering career, but one of her cheer coaches stands out the most in making her time as a cheerleader her favorite.
“I cheered from junior high through a little of the first year of college,” remembered Mallory. “My favorite memories were probably when Kristy Odom took over. She was really fun. She was like another mama to me. Cheer camp was a lot of fun with her. We would go, and she’d play music and we’d be up pretty much all night just cheering and then talking. She was very close to all her squad.”
Now, Mallory enjoys watching her daughter do what she always loved doing.
“Kennedi, my oldest daughter, just started at Quitman Lower, and she’s a kitten,” stated Mallory. “She cheers at the home games at school. I took her this last home game and realized I haven’t been there since I graduated. I got to see all my friends and everyone I graduated with, and it was really fun watching her cheer. She said she wants to be just like me when she grows up. She’s so cute in her little cheer uniform, so I got Harper one. Harper is learning the cheers and doing it with her, and it’s so funny. With her being at Quitman, it just kind of brings back a lot of memories of what I did in school and everything. It was so fun.”
She loves her children and being able to raise them and watch them grow. They have had a major impact on her life.
“I love being a mom. Raising and helping my two minis grow into their own person is something I will always cherish,” proclaimed Mallory. “I never knew what it would feel like to have two pieces of my heart walking around outside of my body. They are so precious, kind, and smart. Being their mama has helped me grow into the person that I am today.”
With each day that passes, Mallory will continue to spend as much time as she can with her family and work hard. She will continue to be successful as she strives to reach all her goals.
