The Chickasawhay Repeater Group is thrilled to have their second Field Day at Archusa Creek Water Park on June 27.
Members of the Chickasawhay Repeater Group, as well as the Meridian Radio Club, will have lines and ham radios set up at the lodge for anyone to come and learn about.
They will begin setting up early that morning and welcome anyone in the community to come out and see what is happening and what they do. Starting at 1:00 they will begin logging contacts all over the world. They plan to allow children who are interested to call out some contacts as well once they start logging them.
For anyone who is interested in ham radio, the group is able to help with the procedures needed to obtain the correct license for it. They have helped one of the two youngest in the state get a license at only eight years old.
Ham radio is more than just a fun hobby. It is capable of helping in times of an emergency, and ham radio operators are usually the first on the ground making calls when severe situations take place.
Come out to Archusa for Field Day on June 27 to learn more about this amazing group and everything they do to help the community.
