The first annual Charles Odom Memorial Ride is set to take place on Saturday, March 30, starting at Archusa at 10:00 a.m. The approximately 174-mile ride will have free food and drinks provided.
The cost to participate in the ride is $25 per bike, regardless of how many passengers it has. All the funds raised will be used to benefit the Citizens of ArchUSA as they work on upgrading and adding recreational features to the park that will be beneficial for everyone, especially when there is no water in the lake.
Ride organizer Eddie Odom has everything planned out, including the route and food, and he is excited to set out on the ride and enjoy time with others while raising money to benefit the community.
“It’s time folks! Knock the dust off, check the oil, kick the tires, and let’s ride!” exclaimed Odom. “I have about 174 miles planned to ride. Once we get to Okatibbee, it’s free food and drinks. I’m not talking about some soggy bunned burger or dog. I’m talking about all you can eat jambalaya prepared by Chef Brian Wedgeworth! We’re raising money to help keep Archusa going while they make repairs to the lake. I invite anyone that wants to ride with us (2, 3, or 4 wheels) to join us and make some memories and help our organization. God bless you all!”
Starting at 10:00 that morning, the following is the itinerary for the day:
• Leave Archusa and go to Scooba (64 miles)
• Take a break and gas up if needed
• Scooba to Philadelphia to the boat ramp at Lake Okatibbee (68 miles) to enjoy some home-cooked jambalaya that’s all you can eat
• Lake Okatibbee back to Archusa Park (42 miles)
