People in Quitman have probably noticed a flamboyance of flamingos invading yards.
These bright pink birds are helping youth at Calvary Baptist Church raise money to go on a mission trip later this year.
So far, there has been a positive response to the fund raiser, and they hope that the community will continue to show support.
“After someone mentioned that Edward and Lara Kramer needed their yard redecorated for a couple of days, the kids snuck up in the yard and quickly put out the flamingos, took a picture, and left. We received a call about two hours later telling us where we could take the ones that we had and set them up at someone else's house,” explained Bethany Morgan from Calvary Baptist Church. “As soon as dark came, our kids got together and ran and did that one. It was so much fun. They had a ball, and we are excited to wait to see who's going to call next. We hope that everyone is a good sport and participates like the Kramers. I think it's a good fundraiser. The kids have had fun, the adults have had fun, and we appreciate the public for participating.”
Have fun with the pink flamingo invasion by determining whose house the flamboyance will land at next. It only takes a $25 donation, or more if you want, to send the flamingoes to a yard of your choice. The person whose yard they land in can then make a donation to send them to another location of their choice. Help the youth raise the money they need for their mission trip by helping the flamingoes continuously move to different areas in the community until the end of May.
