(Summarized from Harbinger’s Daily/Sword of The Lord).
Liberty often defends people of faith when their free exercise of religion is attacked and the hostility comes from opponents who object to religious faith being expressed publicly. The mantra will be that the First Amendment gives freedom from religion. So if the first amendment also protects freedom of speech, this would also mean freedom from speech. It offers freedom of the press, but do we have freedom from the press.
The opponents accuse conduct of faith activities outside the place of worship as forcing beliefs on others. However, there is no scarcity of woke complainers trying to force woke beliefs on the non-woke. The basis is a perceived right to live entirely free from exposure to religious practices and influence in the public square – unless of course, it is a non-Christian influence such as Islam.
Nowhere does the constitution guarantee a right to be shielded from ever seeing someone exercise his religious beliefs in public. But it does protect every American’s freedom, including teachers and government workers to exercise their religious beliefs freely and publicly – even if other people might happen to see it.
That is because religious liberty is the freedom that defines America. In 1776, John Hancock said to George Washington – “The American republic was founded on a set of beliefs that were tested during the Revolutionary War. Among them was the idea that all people are created equal, whether European, Native American, or African American, and that these people have fundamental rights, such as liberty, free speech, freedom of religion, due process of law, and freedom of assembly.
We were founded as “One Nation Under God” and that is why we are still here. President Reagan said “"If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under," Let’s keep ourselves as a nation from going under.
