Quitman native Helen Ann Beeman was honored at Mississippi Republican Convention in Jackson on Saturday, May 14.
Delegates to the convention voted unanimously in favor of a resolution recognizing Helen Ann Beeman's lifelong commitment to her community, state and country, and to the Mississippi Republican Party.
Mrs. Beeman, a retired school teacher and the first female to serve on the Quitman Board of Alderman, has served the Clarke County Republican Party for 50 years, including 24 years as Chairman of the Executive Committee and President of Clarke County Republican Women.
She has also volunteered her time with many local clubs and organizations, including the Quitman Woman's Club, the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce, and the Historic Clarke County Organization.
Mrs. Beeman, who has served as a mentor to countless Clarke County citizens and has long been regarded as one of the hardest working leaders in the county, stepped down as Chairman of the Clarke County Republican Executive Committee this year and is succeeded by Edward A. Kramer of Quitman. She continues to serve the county party as chairman of the Campaign Committee, a group of local Republicans tasked with assisting Republican candidates.
