Get ready for red, white, and kicking cancer blues away! Volunteers with Standing Together Against Cancer (STAC) have put in a lot of hours to make sure this year’s STAC event helps with those cancer blues!
It is scheduled to take place at Archusa Creek Water Park in Quitman on Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The Cancer Survivor Reception will begin at 10:00 a.m. All cancer survivors are invited to attend.
The event itself will officially begin at 11:00 a.m. with the opening ceremony, featuring a welcome by Verlynn Robinson, the presentation of the flag by VFW Post #4982, prayer by Clarke County Baptist Association Mission Strategist Matthew Johnson, National Anthem sung by Angie Boatner, the introduction of a representative from Baptist Anderson Cancer Center by Regina Davis, and a few words spoken by the Baptist Anderson representative.
Troy Dew will then introduce the cancer survivors, who will go to the circle as their name is called to have their picture taken by a drone.
Once all the opening ceremony activities have been completed, there is a variety of booths and entertainment for all those in attendance to enjoy.
One of the things everyone can enjoy is the Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show. There is a $20 registration fee to enter the car show, and door prizes will be drawn throughout the day. All proceeds from the car show will go to the Baptist Anderson Cancer Center Benevolence Fund.
Along with the car show, everyone can enjoy a variety of food, vendors, and live entertainment. There will be inflatables, pony rides, and face painting for the kids to enjoy throughout the day.
The following are some of the team vendors who plan to attend the event and what they will offer:
• BankPlus – Ribeye Steak Sandwiches

At 2:15 p.m., they will announce the Car Show Awards before having the closing ceremony and final announcements at 2:30 p.m.
• Instead of doing balloons this year, they have opted to take a more environmentally friendly approach to honor and remember the cancer survivors. This year, they are selling pinwheels and offer three different sizes. Small pinwheels are $10, medium metal pinwheels are $50, and large metal pinwheels are $100. Those who purchase a pinwheel will be able to take them home. Pinwheels can be purchased from any STAC committee member or team, including BankPlus, Faith Assembly, Faith Tabernacle, First Baptist Quitman, Accent Care, First State Bank, Hospice Care Group, Sally Wedgeworth, Circuit Clerk, The Pharmacy of Quitman, Great Southern Bank, Hello Sunshine, Harper Hospice, or Chancellor Companies. All checks for pinwheels would need to be made out to Baptist Foundation because all proceeds will go to them.
There will be a $5 entry fee per vehicle to enter the event.
All profits made from the event will go to benefit the Baptist Anderson Cancer Center Patient Benevolence Fund to help people from Clarke County who are facing cancer.
Come out on May 16 and support this great event to help make a difference in the life of a Clarke County cancer patient!
