Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there—and with a new agent: Brian Ginn.
While Brian may be new to this area, he is not new to working at State Farm.
“I’ve been with State Farm for nine years now,” explained Brian. “I have an office in Laurel and Quitman.”
After working a couple of other jobs beforehand, he decided years ago to take on a career in the insurance agency and has enjoyed it ever since.
“I’m originally from the Columbia, Mississippi, area. Right out of college, I worked at Mississippi Power for about seven years. After that, I worked at Jones County Junior College for about eight years,” expressed Brian. “About nine years ago, I decided I wanted to take the chance to own my own business and went through the selection process with State Farm and haven’t looked back.”
He views the opportunity to take over the office in Quitman as a blessing and has enjoyed getting to know the people in the community and be able to assist them.
“Life in this new venture in Quitman has been fun,” stated Brian. “It’s been awesome to meet all the new folks and work with the folks in Robert’s office. It really is an honor to be selected to do this and have this opportunity.”
His favorite thing about his position is simply helping those around him, and his background in education assists him in making sure that each client knows exactly what they are signing up for and need.
“My favorite thing about it really is just helping people. I know the perception for some people is that it’s just something everybody needs, but we take a different approach,” declared Brian. “I want people to know what they’re paying for. They pay a lot of money for insurance, so I want them to understand. My background is in education, so I try to sit down with people and explain how insurance works, what it does for them, how it protects them, and explain what it doesn’t do for them. State Farm offers so many products. I do try to narrow in and focus on the things that I enjoy, which is just a needs based conversation and trying to figure out what’s important to people where they are in life.”
While he isn’t in the area full time, he still has a desire to connect with the people in the county through shared interests as well as business.
“I love being outdoors in the yard. I have four daughters who are in ninth grade all the way to college, and I love spending time with them,” said Brian. “One of my interests most people would be surprised about is I play music. I play drums and percussion, and I play with some guys in Laurel as an outlet for me. I hate that I didn’t get to spend more time with Mr. Robert because I hear that he just loved playing music and that there’s a pretty big music community here in Clarke County. I’m hoping to find an avenue to get involved with some of the local music scene and play with some of the guys in this area.”
His wife is a partner in his business, and while he is only in the Quitman office physically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday, he is always able to be contacted over the phone and arrange meetings with anyone who needs to speak with him in person. His Quitman office has highly qualified agents with Stephanie Glass, Holly Waddell, and Courtney McPhearson, and he is highly confident in their skills to maintain the office when he is not there.
“Stephanie, Holly, and Courtney are all here throughout the week. Everybody is fully licensed and capable of solving issues. If there is something I need to address, I’m always available,” proclaimed Brian. “I’m looking at being physically in the office on Tuesday, Thursday, and rotating Fridays.”
