Two local competitive cheer teams, Guns N’ Roses and The Guardians, recently traveled to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, to compete in one of the largest cheer competitions in the world: All Star Worlds Championship.
Both teams had to be at the top of their game to even be able to participate in the competition, and cheer coaches Alexandria Parker and Faith Allen are proud of the girls and how they worked hard to get there.
“This competition is invitation only,” explained Allen. “The Guardians received a full paid bid from The Crown, a Royal Event competition pretty early on in the season. Guns N’ Roses received an at large big from Deep South Spirit earlier in their season.”
These great cheer athletes have definitely put in the work to get to the level of success they have demonstrated.
“These two teams come into the gym countless hours a week to prepare and perfect their routines,” continued Allen.
While attending these practices, the athletes have different things that they choose to work on in order to improve for the next competition.
“The things that I am working on are to be tighter in the air and straighten out my legs in my stretch as a flyer,” declared Andi Brooke Dedwylder.
Making sure they work simultaneously is something else they practice hard in order to be prepared for these major competitions.
“The hardest thing to learn in a routine is stunts because four different athletes all have to learn to be one, a unit to make each skill work,” informed Madysen Allen.
Each of them also possesses a favorite trait about the routines they work so hard to perfect.
“My favorite part of my routine is being put in the elite stunt because I have always wanted to fly, and it means a lot to me to be put in the stunt as a flyer,” expressed Grace Mason.
Everything they do builds up to the competitions. That is when they are able to proudly demonstrate the results of all their effort and bring home different wins.
“My favorite part of every competition is the adrenaline rush you get while being on stage,” proclaimed Jenci Coxwell. “There’s nothing like being in my element performing and striving to do my very best to hit every routine.”
Making it to compete in the All Star Worlds Championship is a huge accomplishment for each team.
For Guns N’ Roses, the following 12 athletes performed at the competition: Madysen Allen, Maegan Grace Hales, Bristol Holland, Jaxton Allen, Lakyn D’Angelo, Maddieann Mason, Grace Mason, Andi Brooke Dedwylder, Mariah Sumerall, Cheyanne Flowers, Aasia Arrington, and Kyleigh Massey.
“They performed their hearts out and gave the best performance of the season,” declared Allen. “However, they unfortunately did not make it to the finals.”
For The Guardians, the following athletes competed: Madysen Allen, James Canon, Bristol Holland, Jenci Coxwell, Lakyn D’Angelo, Maddieann Mason, Kaydance Bishop, Grace Mason, Andi Brooke Dedwylder, Mariah Sumerall, Cheyanne Flowers, and Kyleigh Massey.
“This team advanced to finals, and they came home with 5th in the world!” exclaimed Allen.
Not only did they manage to become 5th in the world, but The Guardians will also be returning to Orlando for another huge competition.
“We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and determination these athletes have!” Proclaimed Allen. “Please also whisper a prayer for The Guardians as they will be traveling back to Orlando, Florida, to compete at The Summit, the Super Bowl of the Varsity Cheerleading circuit.”
Congratulations to both of these teams for a job well done competing at the All Star Worlds Championship!
