Clarke County is gearing up for this year’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on October 4 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
at the Emergency Management Building (formerly the National Guard Armory), located at 642 South Archusa Ave. in Quitman.
This one-day event is free to the public and allows households the opportunity to dispose of products that are not accepted at the landfill. No commercial waste is allowed!
The following items will be accepted:
Paint, aerosols, cleaners, ammonia, anti-freeze, batteries, brake fluid, chlorine bleach, pool chemicals, glass cleaner, disinfectants, drain opener, furniture polish, gasoline, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, tub and tile cleaner, water seal, wood finish, fertilizers, lighter fluid, paint thinner, tires, fluorescent light bulbs, electronic waste, used motor oil, propane cylinders
The following items will NOT be accepted:
Explosives, radioactive materials, materials containing PCB’s, syringes, ammunition, laboratory chemicals, prescription drugs
