Historic Clarke County is excited to present the Downtown Historical Tour on Friday, December 2, 2022. This tour will begin at 5:00 p.m. and last until 7:00 p.m.
Tour guides will be at each location so that people may visit each location in any order they wish. The locations are the Clarke County Courthouse, Fisher’s General Merchandise Store (Quitman City Hall), Quitman Mercantile Company/Long Bell Store (T & G Athletics), Bank of Quitman (Clarke County Tribune), Kirkland General Merchandise Store (Chefski’s Restaurant), the Quitman Depot, and the McNair-Gavin House. You will be learning the historical significance of each building and interesting facts and stories.
This event is free to the public and make sure to wear your walking shoes, for mode of transportation will be your feet. All locations are handicap accessible except for the McNair-Gavin House.
The Historic Clarke County’s Downtown Historical Tour is just one of two events leading off the festivities of Quitman Main Street’s Ole’ Tyme Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
