So often we only connect the bible with spiritual matters and act like God doesn’t know anything about the rest of our lives. A big example is with our physical health. There are actually many biblical practices that were guidance from God to benefit physical health. Here are some of those.
Incense was burned in the temples in the Old Testament and in Numbers, chapter 16, Moses directed Aaron to run among the people with fire from the altar and incense on it to stay a plague that had come on them for rebelling against God. Incense typically included a mint type of plant as inhaling this provided a cleansing effect, much as we today will inhale menthol vapors for a cold. The Jewish people would also throw mint leaves across the temple floors so that the aroma cleansing would take place as people walked across them.
According to several sources, the bitter herbs on the table of the Last Supper of Jesus and His 12 disciples included powerful sources of health and healing.
• Regular lettuce, especially in a tea, provides sedative and can help relieve pain or lessen insomnia.
• Dandelion is especially supportive of healing with the liver and gallbladder. A tea of the leaves can also help relieve swelling and the root helps action of the heart and blood sugar.
• Endive and Chicory are also helpful for the liver and the heart. Chicory root tea has been said to help gout and rheumatism
• Watercress has been helpful with tuberculosis and for purifying the body of intestinal parasites. It has also been used to strengthen the body in cases of bronchitis, high blood sugar, toothache and hair loss.
The Last Supper also included a dessert called Charoset, which had black walnuts that fight inflammation and have a sedative effect.
Dates in the Charoset have been studied for anti-cancer support and contain boron which supports stronger bones. Apples in the Charoset provide potassium that has many health benefits and as apple cider vinegar helps against hardening of the arteries, allergies, sinus problems, and facial pain as well as weight loss.
We take prescription medicine without asking all the details about it. Why not pay attention to some of the health prescriptions given to us by God in His Word?
