When it comes to parents and grandparents, most people want to make sure that they are well taken care of by a trusted individual.
Clarke County is blessed to have Hearts and Hands of Care to provide needed services to make sure that loved ones are properly cared for with 24-hour services. The owners, Rosie Curry-Payton and Devon Payton, are thrilled to be able to assist the elderly in the area. They have plenty of experience and love each of their clients.
“I started working with the elderly ever since I was in church,” recalled Rosie. “My mom started us on doing that. She had always taken care of the elderly and just passed it on to me. When I would get out of school, I would have to go take care of two specific people. They didn’t pay me anything. I just did it when I got out of school because I saw my mom doing it, and in the summer that’s what we had to do. I’ve been taking care of the elderly for a long time.”
Her experience goes beyond just working through the church. She also has professional experience working with them.
“I started working in the hospitals with seniors,” continued Rosie. “I like the night shift because I wanted to take care of them at night because I wanted to make sure they were safe sleeping. They still need to be changed at night so they won’t get a rash or anything like that.”
Her experience working with seniors is what inspired her to open Hearts and Hands of Care.
“I decided to open my own home health company because I’ve been doing it for 13 years,” explained Rosie. “I’ve been from company to company, and they’ve given me substantial jobs to do. I started in Heidelburg, and then I started in Pachuta and Quitman. Everyone over here has been so good to me, so Pachuta and Quitman is where I’m at. We’re trying to open up a home health company that will be through Medicaid waivers. We’ll go from house to house and let them know how to get on Medicaid and get help, and we’ll also be doing private care. Private care is the ones who cannot get on Medicaid and have to pay through cash or insurance.”
They have taken those who may have difficulty paying into consideration and have an option so that they will be able to help everyone regardless of financial status.
“Some people just don’t have the money,” expressed Rosie. “On Saturdays and Sundays, we’ll volunteer our time two hours apiece so that we can get to people that we know really need the help. I already have girls willing to participate and do charity work.”
Anyone who is employed with Hearts and Hands of Care must pass a thorough background check, and they make sure that all employees are trustworthy and will show the proper care to all patients.
They will conduct a free in-home assessment and match clients to caregivers to ensure that everyone is satisfied with service. The management also frequently conducts assessments to ensure that all clients are satisfied.
