Clarke County resident Cynthia (CJ) Traywick has recently taken on a battle against cancer. It all started back in January of this year.
“In January, she started feeling like she couldn’t breathe,” explained her husband, Joey Traywick. “She went to her doctor in Newton. They did x-rays and told her that she had pneumonia, but they were worried about a large mass on her right lung. She told her that she was going to send her straight to the hospital. They called me, and she came home and got some clothes before we went to the hospital.”
Once they made it to the hospital, they went through all the usual tests consisting of CAT scans, blood work, x-rays, and a biopsy. By that Friday, they had found a tennis ball sized tumor on her first or second rib. They also found where the cancer had metastasized, causing small tumors to be found in multiple different areas from the waist up, resulting in a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer.
They also found a spot on her brain, requiring her to have three radiation treatments focused on that area.
She has also been taking chemo treatments that they feel have been successful so far. There was a location on her back and on her upper leg that she feels have improved since she started taking the chemo.
“I do have a praise report,” proclaimed CJ. “I had a spot on my back that was about the size of a golf ball that was cancerous. It was in the muscle and hurt. After two chemo treatments, we can’t even feel it anymore. It seems like it’s almost entirely gone. There was a tumor on my upper leg, too, that we can’t see anymore.”
Even with the diagnosis of stage 4 cancer, she isn’t letting it stop her and is trusting God to help bring her through it.
“We still believe that God is in the business of miracles and healing, so we’re praying,” declared CJ.
She works for Joey Chancelor, and he has been working with her to make things easier for her since she learned the diagnosis. She has been able to go in and work when she can, and they are making it where she has access to work remotely as well.
Even with her and her husband still working, there are expenses involved from treatments and any traveling they have to do for it. For this reason, her children, Aaron Jolet and Tiffany Strohmeyer, have set up a GoFundMe page to try and help raise money to assist with the extra expenses. They hope to raise a total of around $5,000.
Anyone who would like to donate to help with all the extra expenses can do so at https://gofund.me/59422617c.
They appreciate all the help that the community has already provided and is continuing to provide as she battles cancer.
“We just want to thank everyone for the prayers and donations they have given,” stated Joey Traywick. “Everybody has been really good, and we appreciate everything that we get.”
