Horace R. Williams, 88, of Philadelphia, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born on November 12, 1937, in Quitman, Mississippi, Horace was the son of the late H.R. and Clara Williams.
Horace co-owned Williams Auto Parts & Service Center with his brother, Charles R. “Buddy" Williams. He was known as one of the area's best front-end mechanics and took great pride in his work.
Horace loved dirt-track racing and enjoyed co-owning race cars for many years. He especially loved spending time with his family and attended Henry's Chapel Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Yvette Williams; his son, Mike Williams; his daughters, Tammy Agent (Bernard), Penny Burns (Tim), and Angie Carpenter (Chuck); his daughter-in-law, Robbie Williams; his grandchildren, Scott Williams (K'lyn), Erin Blanchard (Cory), Lauren Barrett (Josh), Natalie Cartulla, Ashton Agent Tucker, Austin Agent (Elenor), Penelope Burns, Rachel Grace Carpenter, and Andrew Carpenter; his great-grandchildren, Brooks Barrett, Kara Cartulla, Dominic Cartulla, Memphis Williams, Callen Williams, Kadi Williams, and Owen Agent; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.R. and Clara Williams; his beloved son, Phillip G. Williams; his granddaughter, Meagan Leigh Agent; his grandson-in-law, Robby Tucker; his brothers, Curtis Williams, James L. Williams, Charles R. "Buddy" Williams, and Cleo Williams; and his sisters, Ivone Fagan and Elsie Hackler.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at John E. Stephens Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with burial immediately following at Henry's Chapel Cemetery.
