The new plant allows Howard to expand into a new and broader labor pool. Currently sixty peopled are employed at the Quitman Facility with plans to hire up to 200 more jobs in the coming months.
The 180,000-square-foot facility will focus on producing transformer cores made of amorphous metal. The alloy of amorphous metal exhibits a unique molecular arrangement that is random rather than organized, like the crystalline structure of traditional core steel.
The unique molecular structure of amorphous metal allows cores to be more readily magnetized and demagnetized when energized, which results in significantly lower energy losses.
Company CEO Michael Howard looks forward to the new plant, he stated that “We are excited to be in Quitman, Mississippi… we have a lot of work to be done, and a lot more people to hire.”
