Shots rang out in Stonewall this past Saturday as a drive-by shooting took place on Woodland Drive. Authorities quickly responded to the scene and were able to track down a person of interest in the incident.
“When officers arrived on the scene, they had already fled the scene. Deputies were able to get the vehicle at McKenzie Apartments off of Highway 513,” explained Chief Deputy Barry White. “We picked up the person of interest on Saturday.”
The suspect was released Monday morning, but the incident is still under thorough investigation.
“The investigators are trying to do what they can to get everything done, but until they get more evidence about what happened, we didn’t have enough to hold him on,” continued White. “We know that there are cameras in the area that some homeowners’ have, and we’re currently trying to see if we can look at the footage of what they have.”
There were no injuries reported from the shooting incident.
