J. C. "Jake" Pruitt, 76, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on October 7, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on November 29, 1948, to William and Illa (Roberts) Pruitt in Clarke County, MS.
Jake was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jake is survived by his wife, Jean Pruitt; two daughters, Laurie (Cleve) Roberts and Lisa (Daryl) Roberson; surrogate son, Ken "Bo" Fleming; four grandchildren, Justin (Ariel) Roberson, Bayleigh (Austin) Liveoak, Kynsleigh (Cody) Goodman, and Laraleigh Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Owen Goodman, Ollie Kate Goodman, and Carson Liveoak; brother, Earl (Nell) Pruitt; sister, Hazel (Carl) Bonner; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, William T Pruitt; mother, Illa Pruitt; son, William Jason Pruitt; three brothers, John D. Pruitt, Harvey Pruitt, and Roy Pruitt; and three sisters, Lillie Maude Smith, Earlene Allen Pruitt, and Helen Pruitt.
Visitation was held Friday, October 10, 2025, 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Shoemaker and Rev. Bob Ramsey officiating.
Burial took place in the Stateline Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ken "Bo" Fleming, Cleve Roberts, Austin Liveoak, Cody Goodman, Daryl Roberson and Justin Roberson.
