James H. "Sonny" Jones, 90, of Enterprise, Mississippi, passed away on December 1, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on August 9, 1935, to Lawrence Otis and Gladys (Roberts) Jones in Enterprise, MS.
Sonny was a Godly man that loved serving the Lord. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Jasper County, MS. He retired from the trucking industry after 40 plus years of service. He worked for many companies such as Campbell 66, Churchill, and Central Freight. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family. He was known for his kind and giving nature and was a friend to everyone.
James is survived by his two daughters, Leisa Jones (Ronnie) Shumaker and Pam Jones (Jay) Goree; six grandchildren, Natalie Dabbs (Johnny) Wimberly, Brett (Vanessa) Dabbs, Joshua (Kimberly) Shumaker, Jill Goree, Brooke Goree (Matthew) Rhodes, and Garrett Goree; 11 great-grandchildren, Jessica Wimberly, Jake Wimberly, JoAnna Wimberly, James Wimberly, Harley Dabbs, Addison Dabbs, Bryce Dabbs, Brantley Shumaker, Luke Shumaker, Wren Shumaker, and Ella Rhodes; great-great-grandson, Colton Alvarez; brother, Ronald Jones; sister, Linda Richardson; two brothers-in-law, Terry Sisson and Otho Sisson, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Otis "L. O." Jones; mother, Gladys Roberts Jones; wife, Jeanette Sisson Jones; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Sweeny; three brothers, Millard Earl Jones, Charles Ray Jones, and Wayne Jones; sister-in-law, Dianne Smith; and a brother-in-law, John Dale Sisson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Ivey officiating.
Burial will take place in the Enterprise Cemetery.
