Jerry Wayne Dickerson, 79, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on February 3, 2025, at Ochsner Health.
He was born on August 25, 1945, to Bodie Dickerson and Katherine (Holifield) Schrimpshire in Waynesboro, MS.
Jerry Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved turkey hunting. He enjoyed it so much he was given the nick name "Turkey Hunter." When he was not in the woods he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jerry Wayne was a part of the logging industry for 20 years. He was also a loving husband for almost 60 years. Banana pudding was his favorite dessert. He was retired from the Army National Guard with 20 + years of service.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Juanita Dickerson; daughters, Flora (David) Fagan and Rebecca (Chris) Davis; son, James Bodie (Stephanie) Dickerson; grandsons, Blake (Carlie) Mollett, Britton Davis, Bowen Dickerson, and Callen Dickerson; granddaughter, Lillian Davis; great-grandsons, Judd Mollett and Sawyer Mollett; sisters, Jewel (J.C. ) Dearman and Kathy (Jim) Mathis; brothers, Bob Dickerson, Cleveland (Karren) Dickerson, Austin (Robin) Dickerson, and Richard Dickerson; son-in-law, Errin Mollett; and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bodie Dickerson; mother, Katherine Schrimpshire; daughter, Benita Ann Mollett; great-granddaughter, Delilah Mollett; and sisters, Annie Grace Tucker and Quida Nell Robinson.
Pallbearers will include Britton Davis, Ethan Bounds, L.D. Bounds, William Stewart, Alex Dickerson and Jed Dearman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Mollett, Bowen Dickerson and Callen Dickerson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Moore officiating. Burial will take place in the Cooper's Chapel Church Cemetery.
