Jo Lynn Magee Davidson, from Stonewall, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of February 14 at The Residence at Rocky Creek, an assisted living facility where she resided for the past two years.
She was ninety-six years old. Jo Lynn was born in Walthall County, in Tylertown, Mississippi, on September 14, 1929, to O.O. Magee and Hillman Elizabeth McKee Magee.
Her early years were spent in the family home in Dexter until the death of her dad when she was twelve. Forced to grow up quickly, she graduated high school and college by the time she was nineteen. At the age of nineteen, she moved to Stonewall to teach home economics at Stonewall High School. There she met Edward M. (Red) Davidson, who was attending veteran school after World War II. They were married for 65 years, until his death in 2015. She taught school in Stonewall until the high school closed. She spent the remainder of her career teaching English at the Quitman Junior High. She had been retired since 1986. She was a member of First Baptist Church Stonewall where she taught the senior adult ladies Sunday school class for sixty years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and encourager to those around her. She leaves a lasting legacy in her family and in her community.
Jo Lynn is survived by her only son, Edward M. (Eddie) Davidson, Jr. and his wife Babs of Lucedale, Mississippi; grandchildren Ashleigh Williams and her husband Carl of Demopolis, Alabama; Suzanne Jacobs and her husband Jon of Atlanta, Georgia; and Leigh Anne Cochran of Hamilton, Alabama. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Madeline Caleigh Williams, Marleigh Elizabeth Williams, Meredith Ansley Williams, Avery Morris Jacobs, Erin Tyler Jacobs, Owen Ross Jacobs, Anderson Magee Jacobs, Madison Riley Cochran, Samuel Reed Cochran, and Anna Reese Cochran.
