ELLISVILLE – An automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II Soccer Tournament will be on the line here this weekend.
Jones College is serving as host for the Region 23/Gulf District Tournament with Bobcat Soccer Field being the site for six games. Jones earned the host role because their men’s team won the MACCC regular season championship.
There will be four semifinal games on Friday.
At 11 a.m., No. 3 Holmes meets No. 9 Pearl River in a women’s game, followed by No. 12 Pearl River vs. No. 17 Mississippi Gulf Coast in a men’s game at 1:30 p.m. The No. 4 Jones College women face No. 6 Northwest at 5 p.m. with No. 2 ranked Jones meeting Hinds in a men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
The women’s championship game is slated for 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by the men’s game at 6:30 p.m.
The tournament winners will advance to the NJCAA Division II Soccer Tournament, beginning Nov. 13.
The national tournament seedings and bracket will be announced on Nov. 8. Four at-large invitations for men and women will be issued.
