Lavanace Daniel Parker, age 92, passed away September 6, 2023. He was born January 9, 1931. He married Syble Jackson on February 25, 1951, and they shared 72 years together.
He was a member of the Stonewall Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a devout Christian who met no stranger and enjoyed discussing the Bible with anyone, anytime. He served in the US Army for three years during peacetime. He was a Master Mason member of the Wilson Masonic Lodge #72 in Stonewall, and he retired after more than 30 years as a truck driver of 18 wheeled trucks.
He enjoyed watching various sports on TV, especially the Braves Baseball team. For the last three years, he was a resident of North Point Health & Rehab. On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 10:42 a.m., he passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Syble Jackson Parker; four children, Larry Parker (Dorothy Mathis), Sharon Parker Talbert (Samuel Talbert-deceased), Barbara Parker Davidson (Edward Davidson) and Kevin Parker (Julie Kidd); eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ava D. Martin Parker; one older sister, Gonolia Parker Chancelor; and one younger brother, Terry Parker.
Pallbearers were grandsons Philip Odom, Jason Odom, Jonathan Parker and Chris Randall, and great-grandsons Joshua Odom, Samuel Odom, Jacob Odom, and Michael Carroll.
Services were held Saturday September 9, 2023.
