This week I am blessed to be visiting the Ark and the Creation Museum. It is a great reminder of how powerful and awesome God is and how much He uses that in and through us. Here are some life lessons from Noah.
Stay available even when you get old. Noah was 600 years old when he started working on the ark. Our society tells us that older age is for slowing down and getting sicker. In addition to Noah, remember Colonel Sanders and KFC in his sixties and beyond. Even look at President Trump now at age 79.
Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark. Many of us are like the 10 foolish virgins in the bible who were not prepared and missed the bridegroom. Time spent in preparation for life’s events saves the day if and when those events happen. This fits with another Noah adage to not miss the boat.
Remember that the ark was built by amateurs: the Titanic was built by professionals. Typically, rural Southern areas are blessed with folks who know how to make do, can do, and be self-sufficient. When the professionals are so expensive and so behind, that reliance on amateur can save the day.
When you are stressed out, stay in and just float a while. Floating or resting is restoration for the spirit, mind, and body. When feeling the nudge to do that, follow the nudge. You will come out of it refreshed, energized, and go forward much more effectively.
Finally – the rainbow will appear after the storm. Every time I see a rainbow in the sky, it reminds me of God’s promises throughout the bible. Storms are a natural part of life. If we are believers, the rainbows are also a natural part.
