The Presidential Primary on March 12 is quickly approaching. In the last election, only about 50% of voters came out to make their voice heard.
It is important for citizens to exercise their right to vote, even in primary elections. Just remember that for the primary, voters must choose whether to vote Democrat or Republican. A voter cannot vote on both tickets. This is to select who will be the candidate for that party in the general election later this year.
The Circuit Clerk’s office will be open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for absentee voting. They will also be open on March 2 and March 9 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for absentee voting for anyone who is unable to make it during normal business hours.
For any questions, contact the Circuit Clerk’s office at 601-776-3111.
Please remember that the East Quitman polling precinct has moved from the Scout Hut/Lion’s Den to the First Baptist Church fellowship hall, located at 411 East Franklin Street in Quitman.
See the sample ballot for the Democratic and Republican tickets.
