Municipal Elections approaching
Every four years, citizens in cities and towns across Mississippi elect the candidates they trust to lead their local governments. The next election will take place on June 6, 2017. In Clarke County, we have five separate municipalities: Shubuta, Pachuta, Stonewall, Enterprise, and Quitman.
Candidates are not required to be affiliated with a political party, but political ideology is a strong indication of how a candidate will govern once in office. Any candidate running on the Republican ticket has made a commitment to a political philosophy of fiscal conservatism, business-friendly policies, and thoughtful leadership.
On February 2, Republican citizens will meet at their local town halls and organize Republican Municipal Executive Committees. These political bodies are tasked within determining the qualifications of GOP candidates and, if necessary, conducting primary elections.
The Clarke County Republican Party exists to support Republican candidates for office and promote responsible, conservative governmental policy. Our next meeting is Thursday, February 9, 2017.
