The unAmerican "International Property Maintenance Code" (IPMC) hurts all property owners, not just those who may receive an "Official Warning Notice" or "Notice of Initial Hearing" from the City of Quitman's Code Enforcement Official, Carlton Green. Why is this?
Quite simply it is because while there is injustice for one, there is injustice for all. The unAmerican IPMC is a Trump style fascist land grab law that seeks to tear down people's homes to make them homeless and to destroy their lives while imposing stiff fines as a penalty.
I have petitioned the City of Quitman, Mayor Steve Watkins, and the Board of Alderman, as a senior citizen and environmental consultant with over forty (40+) years experience, I feel hurt and harmed by the false and fallacious assault made upon me regarding all the kudzu that has invaded my property from the adjacent open drainage ditches.

My home and property are in compliance with the IPMC, but I still think this unAmerican code should be repealed because it is a bad, bad, law!
I have been fighting the Kudzu war for fifteen years! The City of Quitman has neglected to properly maintain the open drainage ditches and easements on my property line. This has resulted in kudzu vines invading my property and causing hurt, harm, injury, and/or damage. Plus open sewers are breeding ground for Quitman sewer rats! If rats get Covid-19, it could be catastrophic for Quitman!
The City of Quitman needs to cease and desist from the hurt and harm being done to property owners, especially senior citizens. Having hearings in a small room at City Hall is especially dangerous for senior citizens during the global pandemic. The City needs to get off its high horse and repeal the unAmerican IPMC which is a real "menace to public health, safety, and welfare of the community."
I urge everyone to display and fly an American flag in front of their homes all year long in protest of the IPMC. We do not need Trump style land grab fascism in Quitman. We need new infrastructure and good jobs for everyone. We need to culvert and cover the open drainage ditches all over our small town. And we need to display old glory to beautify our town. That one thing will do more to make Quitman a place people will want to live, work, and visit, than any unAmerican IPMC.
