The 6-1 Enterprise Bulldogs traveled the short 15 minute drive to face the 6-1 Clarkdale Bulldogs last Friday night.
The first quarter started how it ended, a strong defensive battle that left both teams scoreless at the end of the first.
With the start of the second quarter, Enterprise gained momentum to get into field goal range, but the kick fell incomplete. Clarkdale was forced to punt, and Enterprise picked up a first down before throwing it deep, only for it to be picked off and returned to the EHS 38. But as Clarkdale finally gained momentum, Junior Ridge Jackson picked off the Bulldogs and returned it to the CHS 19. With only five minutes left in the half, Junior Jackarius Pickens fought his way for a touchdown and a good PAT. The first half ended with a tight 7-0 lead over Clarkdale.
As the third quarter kicked off, it became a punting battle until Junior Zee Sims broke away for a touchdown but missed the PAT from the CHS 21 yard line. Enterprise entered the third quarter with a 13-0 lead over Clarkdale.
The fourth quarter started with a Clarkdale fourth down pass that went all the way down the sideline for a touchdown but missed PAT. Clarkdale cut the Bulldog lead in half 13-6. After an Enterprise punt, Clarkdale took full advantage and drove all the way to the EHS 10 yard line. On yet another fourth down, Clarkdale passed it to the corner of the endzone; its tipped and caught for a touchdown and good PAT. Enterprise slowly drove down the field but fumbled at the 23 yard line. Clarkdale ran down the clock and kicked the game winning field goal from the ten yard line. Clarkdale won 16-13 against the Bulldogs.
Enterprise faced defeat against Clarkdale for the first time since 2004. The Bulldogs dropped to 6-2 on the season and 1-2 in district. Enterprise looks to bounce back as they host the (0-8) Southeast Lauderdale Tigers Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Friday night we will celebrate our seniors before the game.
