The Quitman Panther Baseball Team come up short in Game 3 of round two against Green County Monday night with a final of 10-3.
Head Coach Eric Johnson had this to say:
“First, I would personally like to thank our great community for the unbelievable support for our program this year. To see the fans come out during the year and especially the playoffs, standing room only was awesome. I am so proud of this team this year as they reached goals they were told they could not accomplish and couldn’t win. This year is all about the guys buying into the process of what we taught to them daily. These guys wanted to be coached, pushed and trusted, and when I saw I had earned their trust, I knew we had a chance to do some great things.
With as young as we still are, I think we laid the foundation for some bigger things in the future: to have the first winning season since 2007, first playoff appearance since 2014, and I don’t know how far it goes back to winning a playoff series and was within one game of advancing to the third round!
We started over today (Tuesday) working to accomplish our goals set already for 2023, which after this year sets the bar higher. This was all about the players this year, and I think they feel they left something out there and can’t wait until next spring.
We will have seven returning starters next year. Our summer baseball camp will be coming up in June and can’t wait to see our future Panthers!
Congratulations boys! Your community is proud of you!
