Wayne Academy took game 3 Saturday night in Flora, MS, against Tri-County 12-8 to advance to the South State series this week against Riverfield out of Rayville, LA. It will be a rematch of last year’s south state series. WA will have home field advantage.
In the two games, Jackson White goes 4 for 8, including a double to deep left center at the wall. For the two games, Sam Cook and Davin Lowrey took the bump and pitched some great baseball. Kamryn Carlisle closed both games, one inning in the first game, and 2 innings in the second, and had a stellar performance.
Some other highlights included Hayden Pickering going deep in the first game with a 3 run HR. Walker Hall showed out his cannon, throwing a runner out at the plate from left field on a single that was hit, on a runner that left second. An absolute missile to home plate. The MVP for this series was the entire team.
In the last game, there were so many delays for so many different things. The lights went out because of surrounding storms, just at the end of the bottom of the second, within five seconds after Sam Cook hosed a runner at second trying to steal.
Sam Cook (junior) and Will McCree (freshman) are life long residents of Clarke County. Both are members of the 2022 Wayne Academy Baseball program.
