Claire Lyn McLendon Krawitz - June 26, 1963 - October 1, 2024
Rancho Mirage, California.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Claire Lyn McLendon Krawitz. Surrounded by loved ones at her desert home in Southern California, Claire left this world on October 1, 2024. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Clara Dabbs Craft and Greg McLendon, Claire graduated from Magnolia Academy in Jackson, MS, and the University of Mississippi, where she was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Her adventurous spirit led her to call diverse places like Washington, DC, Aspen, Colorado, and Southern California home. Claire's generosity, humor, and compassion touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Claire's greatest joy was her family. As a devoted mother and wife, she poured love and care into the lives of those around her. Her compassion extended far beyond her family, however. For many years, Claire selflessly volunteered to run a local homeless shelter, and throughout her life, she passionately advocated and supported animal rescue shelters. She made a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, and her legacy of love and service will endure.
Claire was predeceased by her father, Greg McLendon. She is survived by her husband, David Krawitz, of Rancho Mirage, CA; son, Griffin Krawitz, of Williamsburg, Virginia; mother, Clara Craft, of Rancho Mirage, CA; and uncle and aunt, Dutch and Ellen Dabbs, of Brandon, MS, and their adult children, Liza Gebelein and Kissy Dabbs, of Atlanta, Georgia.
A graveside service will be held on October 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Quitman, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi (www.arfms.org/donate) in memory of Claire Lyn McLendon Krawitz.
