Clifton "Lanky" Oglesby, 89, of Enterprise, Mississippi, passed away on October 31, 2022, at his residence. He was born on May 31, 1933, to William Raymond and Sadie (Prince) Oglesby in Stonewall, MS.
Lanky was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church and formerly a member of Stonewall United Methodist Church. He was a retired employee from Burlington Industries after 35 years. Lanky also served his community as a longtime member of the Town of Stonewall Board of Alderman. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Quitman Country Club for many years.
Lanky is survived by his wife, Gail Oglesby; four daughters, Suzanne (Randy) Freeman, Angela (Tommy) Williams, Robin (Ron) Garriga, and Vicki Hamrick; son, Ronnie (Marsha) Hamrick; five grandchildren, Amy (Caleb) Hillman, Shelby (Jeff) Carpenter, Lauren (Wes) Stokes, Leah Williams, and Jared (Madison) Hamrick; seven great grandchildren, Nathan Cooley, Liza Hillman, Georgia Stokes, Peyton Carpenter, Denver Stokes, Addy Byrd, and Easton Byrd; brother, Ray Oglesby; stepbrother, B. J. Barton; and sister, Lois (Jimmy) Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Raymond Oglesby; mother, Sadie Prince Oglesby; stepmother, Lottie Oglesby; two brothers, James W. "Billy" Oglesby and William Guinn Oglesby; stepbrother, James Oliver Barton.
Pallbearers were Steve Helms, Darrell Chancelor, Gerald Covington, Jeff Carpenter, Jared Hamrick, and Wes Stokes.
Visitation was held Thursday, November 3, 2022, 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at Enterprise United Methodist Church, Enterprise, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 3, 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise United Methodist Church with Rev. John Wesley Leek and Rev. Ed Shoemaker officiating. Burial took place in the Enterprise Cemetery.
